 | Muslims violence Down Under Ravi Shanker Kapoor A few questions come to the mind in the wake of the latest violence in Australia: What is the problem of Muslims? Why can’t they live peacefully in any place in the world? Why do they have to fight all non-Muslims? A report in The Times on December 13 said, “The violence broke out a week after two Australian lifesavers were allegedly assaulted on the beach by a Lebanese gang. Some residents, fearing that their popular weekend surfing haunt was in danger of becoming a no-go area, threatened anybody of a vaguely Middle Eastern appearance.” Why do Muslims and Arabs want to kill lifesavers? Because they find beach activitiesswimming, sunbathing, surfing, sea-sportsoffensive to their sensibilities. Such activities are offensive primarily because women bare themselves (in the Islamic scheme of things, women cannot enjoy such pleasures, unless they are playthings of some debauch sheikh). The simple, and peaceful, solution is: don’t go to the beaches that offer such views. But, it seems, the Muslims dislike simple solutions and hate anything that is peaceful. So, as The Times reported, “Eleven people were injured and seven were arrested after the arrival of a large group of men of Middle Eastern appearance who smashed car windows and other property. A local resident said: ‘There’s chaos, with ambulances and police going in all directions. Some of the men began trashing every car in sight with baseball bats’.” Australia is the latest entry in the growing list of countries in which the Muslims are creating problems. They are unhappy with the Hindus in India whom they and their intellectual apologists call “communal.” They can’t tolerate the Christians whom they accuse of launching crusades in the past and a war on terror in recent times. They can’t stand the Jews; given a chance, they would annihilate every Jew and, as the Iranian President wants, wipe out Israel from the face of the globe. The Muslims also want to wipe out the US, the UK, Spain, and other Western nations, as evident from the attacks on Twin Towers, in Madrid, and in London. Even in a small country like Thailand is having problems from Muslims; its southern Muslim-majority areas are turbulent. It may be mentioned that the followers of other religions are also found in different parts of the world. The Christians are found in dozens of nations, as do the Hindus, the Buddhists, and followers of other faiths. But why is it that only Muslims have problems with the non-Muslims? Logically speaking, either the faith of Muslims teaches violence or other religions exhort the faithful to kill others; empirical evidence suggests the former. So, it is the duty of Muslims to start accepting the followers of other faiths. The alternative is a clash of civilizations; to be more precise, it would be a clash between Islam and the rest.
